A tragic motorcycle accident occurred on Rt. 340 near Bolivar, resulting in the death of 24-year-old John Drake from Burkittsville, Maryland. The incident happened around 7 p.m. as Drake's motorcycle crossed the median and collided with a Mazda 3. Despite the quick response from Fire and EMS, the injuries were fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Traffic was redirected through Bolivar while authorities conducted their investigation, which concluded around 10 p.m. This incident underscores the need for careful driving in the area known for its scenic routes connecting local towns, including Harpers Ferry and Charles Town.
