Byrd Center in Shepherdstown, Navy SEAL Commander Tom Deitz shared his remarkable career and experiences, including his contributions during Operation Desert Storm. This annual event, part of a national initiative collecting life stories since 2003, aims to highlight extraordinary local figures and engage the community. The gathering also featured a warm welcome from Shepherd University President Mary Hendrix and the presence of notable military figures, showcasing a deep connection between the university and local military history.
