Old Charles Town Road (Route 761), located near the Clarke/Frederick county line, has reopened following the construction of a new two-lane bridge over Opequon Creek, replacing a nearly century-old low-water structure that had a history of flooding. This project, awarded to Fairfield-Echols LLC for $3.4 million, enhances road safety and accessibility for local residents, including those in Charles Town, Ranson, and Harpers Ferry. While the bridge is operational, some final touches are expected to be completed by next spring. Drivers are advised of temporary adjustments as VDOT ensures smooth traffic flow during this transition.
