The Nourishing Literacy Giving Circle, formed in 2017 by local community members, has significantly impacted the Shepherdstown Public Library, providing essential funding amid uncertainties surrounding federal grants. With contributions of $25,820 last year, the circle has become crucial for the library's operations, allowing it to expand services and support community engagement. Director Christy Hagerty highlighted the library's flourishing activities, with over 668 programs conducted and 109,000 items circulated, underscoring the growing role of the library in Shepherdstown and its surrounding areas as a vital free resource.
