At a recent commission meeting, Jefferson County Parks and Recreation presented exciting plans for the upcoming summer season, highlighting the addition of 340 camps and classes aimed at accommodating over 4,000 children. This effort, led by Recreation Coordinator Tommy Van Vliet and Director Jennifer Myers, addresses last year’s high demand, where 375 kids faced waiting lists. The Summer Day Camp will operate from Sam Michaels Park and North Jefferson Elementary, offering various programs including STEM and sports. Community engagement continues to grow as the organization prepares for a bustling summer full of activities, with support from local officials praising their efforts.
