David Antonio Calderon, a 47-year-old El Salvadoran national, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and concealment of a body in the death of 32-year-old Samantha Dailey, whose remains were discovered burned underneath a couch near Martinsburg. The guilty pleas will negate a scheduled jury trial and lead to Calderon's sentencing on July 23 in Charles Town, where family members of Dailey are advocating for a life sentence without parole. The case has garnered attention due to the circumstances surrounding Calderon's immigration status and the details of Dailey’s tragic demise, which unfolded in the community just over a year ago, prompting discussions about safety and justice in local neighborhoods.
