Potomac Edison announced plans to seek a Public Service Commission permit for a segment of the MARL transmission line project, which will span approximately 15.4 miles, impacting areas near Ranson and Charles Town. With an estimated cost exceeding $20 million, the new transmission line aims to enhance connectivity for electric power distribution. However, local residents express concerns that the project primarily benefits data centers in Virginia rather than the community itself. This initiative is part of a larger 105-mile project connecting Greene County, Pa., to Frederick County, Va., outlined by PJM Interconnection to improve power reliability in the region, according to The Dominion Post.
