Unger speaks of honor and sacrifice at Harpers Ferry/Bolivar ceremony

On Memorial Day, the Bolivar-Harpers Ferry District Veterans held a solemn parade and ceremony to honor fallen servicemen. Led by Cpl. Trey Hockman and Sheriff Tom Hansen, participants included the Jefferson High School JROTC Color Guard and the marching Tigers from Harpers Ferry Middle School. The guest speaker, Rev. John Unger, emphasized the themes of honor and sacrifice, recalling the bravery of Medal of Honor recipients and his personal connections to military service through his grandfathers. He reflected on his own experiences serving in conflict zones, stressing the importance of gratitude, reflection, and action on this significant day, and underscoring the values of liberty and justice for which many have fought.
