The Spirit of Jefferson reports that local school officials are revisiting a 2020 policy that provides annual stipends to administrators and select staff in the district. Originally implemented with 52 employees receiving nearly $614,000, the number has risen to 59 employees this year with total stipends reaching approximately $940,000. The stipends vary based on role, tenure, and education, with increases ranging from 10% to 52%, impacting the budget allocations for schools in towns like Harpers Ferry and Charles Town.
