According to a recent ranking by Forbes reported by WOWK 13 News, North Hills, located just outside Parkersburg, tops the list of the wealthiest areas in West Virginia, boasting a median household income exceeding $143,000. Harpers Ferry follows in second place with a median income over $110,000 and high home values, while Cheat Lake ranks third with a mean income surpassing that of both North Hills and Harpers Ferry. Several notable towns such as Shenandoah Junction, Charles Town, and Shepherdstown also feature prominently in the top 15 affluent communities, showcasing the wealth distribution across the region, particularly in the Eastern Panhandle.
