Rotary Clubs Bring Books and Reading to Local 1st Graders
During the week of March 24, volunteers from the Charles Town and Shepherdstown Rotary clubs provided a reading program for 1st graders across four elementary schools in the area. Members read to students at Blue Ridge Elementary on March 24 and Ranson Elementary on March 26, distributing copies of the book 'What If You Had Animal Eyes' by Sandra Markle. This initiative, started in 2023, not only promotes literacy but also gifts each child a book to encourage reading at home, with the Rotary clubs covering all book costs.
