Volunteers from local Rotary clubs are actively enhancing literacy among first graders in towns like Charles Town and Shepherdstown through a reading initiative. Members visited schools such as Blue Ridge and Ranson Elementary, reading selected titles and providing each student with a copy of the book to take home. The program, which began in 2023, aims to promote literacy by engaging children with captivating stories, like 'What If You Had Animal Eyes' by Sandra Markle.
