Rotary Clubs Enhance Literacy: Reading Program for Jefferson County First Graders
In a recent initiative by the Charles Town and Shepherdstown Rotary clubs, volunteers read to first-grade students at four Jefferson County elementary schools. This reading program was established in 2023, allowing Rotary members to visit schools multiple times each year to read selected books and gift each child a copy to keep. Teachers select the books, and the Rotary clubs fully fund the program, enhancing children's access to literature.
