A severe storm on Saturday morning devastated the National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, resulting in the tragic loss of three eaglets from a popular bald eagle nest. The eaglets, only weeks old, fell 90 feet when high winds knocked their nest down. Randy Robinson, outreach coordinator, expressed the community's sorrow over the loss, noting the eaglets were part of a beloved livestreamed series viewed by people from around the world. Amidst the destruction, hope remains as the adult eagles could return to a second built nest for future clutches, bridging ongoing interest in local wildlife and conservation efforts in the area, as reported by The Spirit of Jefferson.
