Shepherd Students Embrace Warm Welcome at St. Peter's Church

Returning Shepherd students enjoy week of welcome at local church

Shepherd University student Curtis Candy participated in a welcoming week at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, a favorite spot for many in the community. Known for its free lunches that are offered at the start of the school year and weekly throughout, the church seeks to create a supportive environment for local students, including commuters from Hedgesville and other nearby areas. Volunteers, led by church members Karen Fitzpatrick, Jerri Burgess, and Tammy Kershner, strive to enrich students’ experiences with homemade meals and positive affirmations, fostering a sense of community that resonates during the challenging school year, especially in the formative midterms and finals weeks.
