Shepherd University Launches Rising Leaders Program for Local Seniors

Shepherd University is set to enhance its college-readiness initiatives in the region with a $172,000 grant from the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation. This funding will support the creation of the Rising Leaders Program, which builds on the existing L.E.A.D.S. initiative, allowing high school seniors from local areas like Charles Town and Harpers Ferry to engage in community service, academic growth, and personal development. The program aims to prepare students for college while promoting civic engagement and leadership skills, starting in the summer of 2026.
