The Shepherd University School of Music, located near Charles Town, recently hosted its 20th annual Honor Music Festival, bringing together over 160 talented high school musicians from the region on January 17-18. Participants engaged in a variety of musical activities, including performances in concert bands, choirs, and jazz ensembles, as well as master classes with university faculty. Dr. Kurtis Adams, the dean, emphasized the invitation-only nature of the event, with students recommended by their music teachers. The festival concluded with a concert at the Frank Arts Center Theater, showcasing the professionalism of participants who adapted to a last-minute schedule change due to inclement weather. This festival highlights the university's commitment to developing 21st-century musicians and enhancing student career prospects.
