Craig McLean, a retired NOAA chief scientist, emphasized the critical need for an 'ocean mindedness' during a recent lecture at Shepherd University, highlighting the oceans' importance to global survival. This event attracted around 90 local attendees and took place in the Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History and Education, showcasing how community engagement can foster awareness about environmental issues—a vital topic for residents from nearby towns like Charles Town and Ranson.
