In a groundbreaking event, Shepherd University alumni Walker Williams will premiere his oratorio, 'Sprinkle Coal Dust on My Grave', on Friday at the Frank Arts Center Theater. Inspired by the Mine Wars of early 20th century West Virginia, this composition seeks to illuminate a little-recognized chapter in labor history. Collaborating with the Masterworks Chorale, Williams, who grew up in Berkeley Springs, hopes to spark dialogue around the socio-economic issues raised by these historical strikes.
