Shepherd University Hosts War Hero’s Story for StoryCorps
Navy Seal commander tells his story for ongoing U.S. Library of Congress project

The Journal highlights the ongoing StoryCorps project, which has gathered over 2,000 life stories since 2003 for the U.S. Library of Congress. Recently, at the Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History & Education, retired SEAL Team Five commanding officer Tom Deitz shared his experiences, including his service in Operation Desert Storm. This local storytelling initiative, initiated at Shepherd University in 2018, celebrates notable figures in the community and engages audiences in Jefferson County and beyond.
