The Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History & Education recently hosted an open house in Shepherdstown to introduce its new director, archivist, and administrative assistant. Esteemed founding director Ray Smock, along with former director Jim Broomall and his wife Tish Wiggs, played essential roles in the leadership transition. Broomall, who relocated to Virginia for a tenure-track position at the University of Richmond, leaves behind a legacy of commitment to historical education and community engagement in the region.
