On National Chess Day, the Shepherdstown Chess Club hosted a successful Chess Puzzle Night at Game Knights, gathering local players of all ages. Organizer Anya Ellis aimed to create an inclusive atmosphere, promoting chess as a means of intellectual engagement without the competitive pressure of tournaments. Participants, including university student Micah Trezise and resident Rob Sisk, shared personal stories about their connection to the game, emphasizing its role in fostering community and critical thinking. The club meets weekly at The Daily Grind, welcoming both new and experienced players in a friendly environment.
