On February 9, Melissa Dunning, a skilled instructor from the John C. Campbell Folk School, hosted a Mending Clinic at the Shepherdstown Public Library, teaching local residents techniques to repair and extend the life of their clothing. The event attracted a small group of women, including Diane Kradel, who brought a cherished sweater, and Natalia Eyestone, eager to learn proper mending methods. Dunning emphasized the environmental benefits of mending as a sustainable practice, cautioning against the pollution associated with clothing production and advocating for skills that promote longevity in garments, connecting the community through shared knowledge and sustainable living.
