On September 20, residents of Shepherdstown participated in a heartfelt Constitution Day Parade organized by We The People, highlighting civic pride and the importance of constitutional education. With around 100 attendees, the event featured public readings of the Constitution and speeches by local figures like Rev. Gusti Linnea Newquist, who emphasized the ongoing significance of religious freedoms. Organizer Mark Kohut expressed a desire to grow this grassroots celebration into the future, particularly leading up to the Constitution's 250th anniversary in 2037. The event not only encouraged reflection on foundational values but also incorporated community spirit through music, ice cream, and fellowship, underscoring the Constitution’s relevance to all citizens.
