Severe storms in Shepherdstown on March 24 caused the collapse of a 22-year-old eagle nest at the National Conservation Training Center, resulting in the tragic loss of three eaglets. This nest had been a vital part of local education; established in 2003 and monitored via live cam since 2005, it allowed community members and schools to witness the eagle hatching and development process over 20 years. The NCTC expressed gratitude for the support from the community while remaining hopeful for future nesting seasons as the adult eagles survived and had built a second nest in the same tree.
