Bella and Scout, a pair of eagles residing at the National Conservation Training Center (NCTC) in Shepherdstown, experienced the tragic loss of their three chicks, Sage, Echo, and Cotton, when their nest was destroyed during a recent storm. The NCTC, which has been a local attraction for eagle enthusiasts across the country, revealed that the old nest had been in use for 22 years, successfully raising 45 offspring. Fortunately, a secondary nest built last year only sustained minor damage and the eagles have begun repairs, with the possibility of raising a new clutch, especially in 2026.
