Local family visits Capitol Hill to advocate for policy issues related to childhood cancer

Members of the Armstrong family from Shepherdstown recently visited Capitol Hill to advocate for pediatric cancer policy during the 15th annual Alliance for Childhood Cancer Action Days. Joined by other families, including representatives from across West Virginia, they urged congressional leaders to support crucial legislation like the Childhood Cancer STAR Act. Notably, Lillian, 8, and Laurel, 5, who is in remission from leukemia, participated for the first time, connecting with peers and experiencing firsthand the collective push for legislative support. Their efforts aim to ensure a better future for children facing cancer, highlighting local involvement in this national issue.
