The Land Trust of the Eastern Panhandle has secured a permanent conservation easement on 31 acres of family-owned property near Shepherdstown, emphasizing the importance of preserving natural habitats for wildlife and future generations. Owner Keith Janssen, whose family has cherished the land since 1969, expressed his commitment to conservation, influenced by his upbringing and career in the Coast Guard. This initiative aligns with the organization's dedication to protecting the region's scenic beauty and historic character as it continues to add to over 7,600 acres of preserved land, further enhancing Shepherdstown's rural appeal.
