The Shepherdstown Chronicle reports that Shepherdstown is welcoming its first speakeasy since Prohibition with the opening of the Burnt Secrets Cellar beneath Panagiota’s Taste of Greece. The 1920s-themed venue, which features a cozy lounge and a reservation-only entry, aims to attract locals and visitors seeking a unique nightlife experience. Owners Lindsey and Emanuel Spanos have worked extensively to create an authentic atmosphere, including live jazz nights and themed charcuterie boards. Rich in history, the building served as a morgue and crematorium, adding to its character, as evidenced by the couple’s encounters with local spirits. This innovative establishment is poised to become a popular gathering spot in the vibrant culture of the area.
