Cari Simon, the founding director of Shepherdstown Shares Food Pantry, has stepped down after four years of pivotal leadership in this Shepherdstown initiative. Launched in 2020, the pantry focuses on providing healthy food options and hygiene products to community members facing food insecurity, embodying a compassionate approach that fosters dignity. Under her guidance, the pantry has thrived within Trinity Episcopal Church’s chapel, helping local individuals and families, regardless of their employment status. Janelle Hoover will succeed Simon as director, ensuring the continuation of the pantry's important mission in the community, as highlighted in The Journal.
