On February 22, Blue Ridge Community and Technical College hosted the second annual Eastern WV MATHCOUNTS Chapter Competition, where students from Shepherdstown, Harpers Ferry, Keyser, Frankfort Middle Schools, and the Eastern Panhandle Flying Squirrels Homeschool Team competed. The Shepherdstown Middle School Math Club claimed first place, with notable individual performances from Harrison Hanna and Max Alexander of SMS and Johnathan Gutzman from HFMS, among others. These students are set to advance to the state competition in Flatwoods, WV, enhancing the region's reputation in educational achievements. This event, supported by local volunteers, underscores the importance of math education locally and nationally.
