Historic Shepherdstown's 2025 Speaker Series will feature a talk on the history of Kentucky rifles given by Tim Hodges and Brian LaMaster on April 16 at the Shepherd University Robert C. Byrd Center. The event is free and open to the public, emphasizing the role of local gunsmiths in the region's rich heritage. Additionally, the Historic Shepherdstown Museum will reopen on April 19, showcasing a significant exhibition of Kentucky rifles crafted in nearby counties, including notable examples from the Sheetz family, who supplied rifles during the Revolutionary War. This exhibition promises to be the largest of its kind in the museum's 40 years, enhancing the area's cultural and historical tapestry.
