Read Across America Week kicks off with event at Shepherdstown Public Library

Read Across America Week was launched at the Shepherdstown Public Library with readings of Dr. Seuss books for around 50 families. Addison Reese, the Adult Services librarian, led the event celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday, inspiring children to cultivate a love for reading. Youth Services librarian Jessie Ward highlighted the library's commitment to Dr. Seuss-themed activities designed to engage kids and promote literacy, echoing sentiments from Casey Willson of Read Aloud West Virginia regarding the importance of fostering reading skills from a young age. As local schools join in the celebration with their special events, the emphasis on diverse stories aims to encourage children’s imagination and reading proficiency within the community.
