The Shepherdstown Public Library hosted its annual Summer Reading Program kickoff party, themed 'Color Our World,' attracting families from across the area for an afternoon filled with colorful crafts and activities. Organized by Youth Services Librarian Jessie Ward and Youth Services Director Rachel Heller, the event featured engaging stations like bubble blowing, sock puppet crafting, and painting workshops aimed at promoting literacy and learning during the summer months. Local families, such as the McGoldricks, shared their enthusiasm for the program, which encourages early learning through fun, hands-on experiences and offers incentives for reading. This initiative supports, among other goals, the library's efforts to maintain high literacy rates for children in the community.
