In Shepherdstown, a committed group of community members formed the Nourishing Literacy Giving Circle in 2017 to bolster local library funding amid uncertainties in federal support. Under the leadership of coordinator Linda Spatig, the circle has significantly impacted the Shepherdstown Public Library, contributing $25,820 in the past year alone, which equates to eight percent of the library's total budget. This financial backing has allowed the library to enhance its services and resources, fostering community engagement and providing new opportunities for learning and development, as highlighted in a recent article by the West Virginia Press Association.
