The National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association (NRLCA) recently celebrated the 250th anniversary of the United States Postal Service at the historic Shepherdstown Opera House. NRLCA President Don Maston emphasized the significance of this celebration in the town, close to where the first Rural Free Delivery route was established in nearby Charles Town in 1896. The event highlighted the foundational principle of universal mail service that connects communities across America, reflecting the area's rich postal history.
