The Shepherdstown Chronicle reports on the inaugural Shepherdstown Gay Pride Parade scheduled for June 1 at 6 p.m. in downtown Shepherdstown. Organizer Joan Moossy emphasized the historic significance of the event, as it aims to celebrate LGBTQ+ rights and community in the region following the cancellation of previous celebrations due to COVID-19. The parade, themed ‘Historic Firsts,’ will honor notable figures and organizations devoted to LGBTQ+ advocacy. In addition to the parade, the weekend will feature various events, including celebrations at local businesses, a drag show, and screenings, all highlighting community support and solidarity.
