Cari Simon, the founder and director of Shepherdstown Shares Food Pantry, recently stepped down after nearly four-and-a-half years in the role. Established in 2020 in a chapel of Trinity Episcopal Church, the pantry emphasizes healthy food options and hygiene products to support the local community, especially during challenging economic times. Simon, a retired teacher who transitioned to a full-time role, expressed her need to retire for health reasons while acknowledging the importance of the pantry for families in need. Janelle Hoover has been appointed as her successor, and Simon plans to remain involved as a consultant to ensure continued support for the organization, which strives to treat all clients with dignity and provide essential resources.
