The Shepherdstown Tree Commission is set to enhance the tree canopy along German and King Streets, following a recent announcement at the town council meeting. Thanks to a matching grant from the West Virginia Department of Forestry, which totals over $21,000 when combined with local funding, 12 new trees will be planted, including a Japanese maple and 11 native species. The pruning begins in February, with planting scheduled for March, showcasing the community's commitment to environmental stewardship, as reported by The Journal.
