Sheriff Hansen Sends Support from Charles Town to Flood-Affected Area

Local deputies travel to assist in McDowell County

In response to devastating floods impacting neighboring McDowell County, Sheriff Tom Hansen has dispatched six deputies from Jefferson County to assist with relief efforts. During a press conference, Gov. Patrick Morrisey reported multiple fatalities and significant structural damage due to flooding in southern West Virginia, especially along the Tug Fork and Blue Stone Rivers. Hansen noted the Sheriff's Office is also collecting donations such as bottled water and cleaning supplies to aid those affected. Local residents eager to help can contact the Sheriff's Office for more information on contributions.
