Shooting in Harpers Ferry: Man Dies, Woman Arrested
Maryland man killed on mountain, suspect being held at ERJ for murder

A Maryland man, Melvin Smith, was fatally shot in the Blue Ridge Acres subdivision of Harpers Ferry early Saturday morning. Deputies responded to the scene, finding the 62-year-old victim with two gunshot wounds. Emergency crews were unable to revive him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Lisa Marie Dickey, 33, of Harpers Ferry, was arrested and charged with first and second degree murder. Evidence collected includes shell casings and a recovered firearm, as the investigation continues.
