The Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF) in Shepherdstown recently concluded its 35th season, offering attendees meaningful discussions and connections—especially for sisters-in-law Cathy Hogendobler and Cynthia McNanley from Harpers Ferry. Their tradition of attending the festival, sparked by a family initiative three decades ago, has deepened their bond. They appreciate CATF's focus on timely topics through powerful plays, such as 'Did My Grandfather Kill My Grandfather?' which prompted reflections on the Vietnam War and its relevance to current conflicts. Their shared enthusiasm has even inspired extended family members from Kansas and Oklahoma to join, underlining the festival's significance within their family dynamics as well as the local cultural scene, such as community theater performances in nearby Ranson and Charles Town.
