The Journal reports that Friends of Music has awarded a $117 grant to Spring Mills Primary School, located near Martinsburg, to acquire 48 plastic Latin Percussion egg shakers for its music program. These instruments, which resemble maracas, will enhance the music education of kindergarten to second-grade students, allowing them to develop dexterity while creating beautiful sounds, according to music teacher Courtney Clevenger. This grant is part of a broader initiative to enrich music education in local schools, supported generously by Ecolab and the nonprofit Friends of Music, founded in 1999 to promote musical excellence in the area.
