A strong storm on Saturday night led to the tragic collapse of an eagle's nest at the National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, resulting in the death of three eaglets. The nest, monitored by dedicated bird watchers via the Eagle Cam, fell approximately 90 feet, catching observers off guard as winds reached around 75 mph. The eaglets, named after their parents Scout and Belle, were all doing well prior to the storm, which surprised the local community and highlighted the ongoing tradition of eaglet monitoring that has captivated residents since the camera was installed in 2006. The NCTC has a proactive platform in place for future nesting attempts.
