A Summit Point resident, Matthew David Viands, has pleaded guilty to his involvement in a significant drug trafficking operation distributing fentanyl and other illegal substances across the Eastern Panhandle. The U.S. Attorney’s Office reports that Viands, 32, also failed to appear for his pretrial release. His charges could lead to a maximum of 30 years in prison combined. Notably, the operation is part of a larger initiative aimed at dismantling transnational criminal organizations, underscoring the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crime in the region.
