The Panhandle News Network reports that the West Virginia Division of Highways has announced significant traffic disruptions starting December 8, 2025, in the region. River Road, spanning from mile point 0.15 to 3.29, will be closed on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for tree canopy cutting. Motorists can expect major delays and should consider alternate routes. In addition, Wheatland Road will be closed until approximately December 22, 2025, due to reconstruction linked to the US 340 Project, directing traffic to Lloyd Road and Withers Larue Road. These changes will impact local residents, businesses, and visitors in towns like Charles Town and Ranson.
