In Charles Town, the U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force arrested an El Salvadoran man wanted for a 1998 aggravated sexual assault. During the operation at the Somerset Village Shopping Plaza, six others were arrested for being in the country illegally. Despite claims from local residents that it was an ICE raid, the supervisory deputy clarified that the operation was focused solely on the fugitive, Santos Calderon, who attempted to evade capture. This incident has caused concern among local immigrant families, highlighting tensions related to law enforcement in the area.
