VDOT official: Speed study to be done along Old Charles Town Road

The Virginia Department of Transportation plans to conduct a speed study on Old Charles Town Road following the completion of the new Opequon Creek bridge, which is near Berryville. Local residents, including Carolyn Stimmel, have expressed concerns about speeding on the road, particularly as construction increases traffic flow. Proposed speed limit changes aim to address safety issues, with discussions around potential radar monitoring by the Clarke County Sheriff's Office. The bridge construction is estimated to finish by November 1, which will also prompt the speed study to begin shortly thereafter, according to Ed Carter, a resident engineer at VDOT.
