Local composer Walker Williams, a Morgan County native, will premiere his original oratorio 'Sprinkle Coal Dust on My Grave' with Shepherd University’s Masterworks Chorale on April 26, 2024. The piece explores the historical significance of the West Virginia Mine Wars, featuring storytelling, choir, and instrumentation that connects deeply to the region's coal mining history. Directed by Dr. Jason Strunk, the performance seeks to educate and engage audiences from areas like Ranson and Charles Town, blending music with local heritage.
