As winter settles in, the classic influenza virus is making rounds, according to the Jefferson County Health Department's Dr. Terrence Reidy. He reassures residents of towns like Charles Town and Harpers Ferry that there are currently no alarming trends associated with this year's flu season. The predominant strain this winter is Type A, known for its high infectivity and severity compared to Type B. With seasonal illness returns, local schools and organizations are encouraged to remain vigilant as they monitor student and community health.
